On January 20, 2009, many were inspired by the election of our new president and the words he shared with us on Inauguration Day. President Obama called for action and togetherness, responsibility and hope. While waiting for further changes that were bound to come in this new era of American history, we decided to get busy. Since then, Portland area non-profits have showed they are organized and welcoming and we have learned that there really is nothing standing between the average American and pitching in to become part of the change you were waiting to see.
